About Richard Whitelocks
My name is Richard Whitelocks, I am originally from Oxton, Nottinghamshire. I settled in Calverton in 1986 when I moved here with my wife Melanie. I have always had a love of and a fascination for photography but didn't get serious about it until a few years ago due to work always getting in the way. I had my first digital SLR camera in 2003. I did use film SLR but found it not as much fun as digital and not as forgiving. I use a Canon 40D as a back-up to my Canon 5DMKll with a selection of lenses. I have found that I am always learning about taking photos despite being on a few photography courses and reading many books.
My main interests are Landscapes, Sports, and most things that catch my eye because when you hold a camera there is a picture always around you waiting to be caught. I would like to take up studio work (because it’s warmer inside!) just to have a go to see if it is for me. I have taken photos that have been used on a number of web sites, check out my links page. At the moment I have been taking photos for a local Hair and Beauty salon for their website, as well as using my photographic skills at work for the website and sales.
I would like to take up this wonderful hobby full time but at the moment it’s a matter of learning more and see what the future holds.
